While You Start Spring Cleaning, Consider a Donation to Help Your Neighbors

It is officially spring, which of course means it is time for spring cleaning. But as you clean out your home, think of the neighbors in your community who are less well off this year.
Right now, North Hills Community Outreach in Allison Park, PA is currently collecting donations of both personal care/grooming items as well as cleaning items. Both sets of items are not covered by SNAP benefits.
"If you're a very low-income family who qualifies for SNAP, you can't use that to purchase soap, diapers, laundry detergent or bleach," said NHCO Communications Director Jen Kissel. "That has to come out of your own pocket and those expenses can add up when you're on an extremely fixed budget."
While NHCO collects donations year-round, the organization is encouraging donations of personal care items by April 1, and cleaning items by June 7, to be distributed within the community. Kissel says last year, the NHCO was able to reach 3,486 families.
If you aren't able to donate material goods, you can always help support NHCO financially. You can click here to learn more or donate online. Additionally, NHCO accepts used vehicle donations. These donations directly support their transportation assistance program.
