What's The Deal With All These Signs?

Take a closer look... that's not a parking sign but it is something new that's spreading.

These signs look legit for a good reason, the City of Pittsburgh made them and put them up across town.

"They were fabricated in-house by our sign shop and put up yesterday." - Tim McNulty

According to Mayor Bill Peduto's communications director Tim McNulty, "The signs were Mayor Peduto's idea, and are the city's way of participating in Gov. Wolf's "143 Day" tribute to Fred Rogers today (Wednesday).

Pedestrians are discovering this sign in the crosswalk at the City County Building in downtown Pittsburgh, PA

You can find the signs throughout Pittsburgh including the City County Building and outside PNC Park. There are 23 of them for May 23rd which happens to be the 143rd day of the year.

I found a few signs to see how people were reacting to them. Most didn't know they were there... but when they did, you should see their reactions:

The driving force for the mayor's idea isn't all Mr. Rogers inspired. Tim McNulty says, "The Mayor has talked a lot about addressing hate in the wake of October's murders at Tree of Life, and of course has long praised Fred Rogers' work and teachings, and felt this was a good and fun way for the city to honor that."
