Ryan Shazier Dances with His Wife at Wedding Reception

Steelers linebacker cuts the rug (and cake!) at wedding, just 18 months after gruesome spinal injury.

It was less than 18 months ago that Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was lying motionless on the turf of Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, after attempting to make a tackle in a rainy Monday Night Football game against the Bengals. In the hours that followed, doctors told Shazier he had suffered a spinal cord injury and may never walk again.

But this weekend, Shazier continued his incredible recovery from the injury by dancing with his wife at their wedding reception.

Shazier and Michelle Rodriguez got married in Pittsburgh this weekend, and they happy couple was surrounded by family, friends and Steelers teammates, including James Conner, T.J. Watt and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Backup quarterback Josh Dobbs posted some great video of Mr. and Mrs. Shazier cutting the wedding cake:

Shazier has been an inspiration to football players and fans across the country as he's recovered from his injury. Posts of his workouts and rehab have gone viral, and Shazier says his goal is to play for the Steelers again. In the meantime, the Steelers have kept him on the team, though he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list for the upcoming season. However, he will receive a salary and medical insurance benefits and accrue another year towards his NFL pension.

Shazier and his wife welcomed a son in January.
