Wait Until You See How A Few Music Industry Pros Made An Aspiring Rapper’s Dream Come True
When they saw the boy using a makeshift studio to record his rhymes, they worked quickly to give him an upgrade.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a vet when I got older.
Obviously, I loved animals.
What I didn't know at the time was that there was a lot more to being an animal doctor then petting cats and playing with puppies. Once I found out that I would have to deal with blood and decide if someone's pet lives or dies, my career path quickly changed direction.
As for 11-year-old aspiring rapper, Ray 3rd, his ambitions are a lot more clear-cut. He knows what he wants, and now, thanks to some new friends, he has the support he needs to make his dream come true.
Ray uploaded his first YouTube video featuring his rapping skills last month. In the video, Ray (whose previous rapper name was 'Hotboyfire') tells his viewers, "I've been rapping since I was five. I like rapping. It's just what I wanna do and what I wanna be when I grow up."
A few days later, a photo of Ray rapping into a cellphone mic that he draped over the frame of his bunk bed in his bedroom was shared on Twitter.
The post caught the attention of some music industry professionals who wanted to encourage the young boy to keep working on his craft.
Songwriter and producer Kenny Beats responded to the post and decided to send Ray some professional recording equipment. Others quickly joined in and pledged to get him headphones, a laptop and a proper microphone.

The headphone and speaker company Beats by Dre even got involved and hooked Ray up with some of their products.
Kenny Beats reached out to the boy and arranged to have the recording equipment shipped to his home.
Last week, Ray shared a video to his YouTube channel thanking everyone for their continued support.
"I just want to thank everybody who supported me to make me keep going," he said. "I'm still going, I'm not giving up until I make it there."
Check out Ray3rd's newest track, "Different."
We can't wait to hear more of Ray3rd's music as he continues to hone his rapping skills. The sky's the limit!
