Update: Woman Walking the U.S. for Charity Reaches State No 7

She's raising money for homeless pets, and hopes to meet Ellen DeGeneres at the end of her trek.

It's been a couple of weeks, and we wanted to give you an update on the woman from Pennsylvania who is walking across the country to raise money for homeless pets -- and hoping to catch the attention of her hero, TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. In our story at the beginning of July, we explained how Becky McCrea got the idea, and how things had been going since she set out on her cross-country trek in May:

We're happy to report that Becky reached her 7th state this week -- she's now in Kansas! She's averaging about 27 miles a day, and expects to reach Burbank, California sometime in mid-August, where she hopes to get a guest spot on the Ellen DeGeneres show. She's a big Ellen fan, and her walk will benefit Best Friends Animal Society , a no-kill animal shelter in Utah that's also a favorite of Ellen's.Becky says Ellen's producers have asked her to keep in touch and let them know when she gets close, so keep your fingers crossed.

With Gary from Nevada, Missouri. Great sense of humor and he kept me on my toes. ????

Becky continues to meet lots of people and get a lot of love from their dogs, who come out to meet her and offer food and water when she passes through their town.

Getting some pet love!

Becky's friends are taking turn driving the chase van that follows her for safety, and provides a place she can sleep when they end the day too far away from a town. It's also how Becky's dog Arnie is accompanying her on the trip!

Kelly Larsen is wrapping up his week as Becky and Arnie's chase van driver. He'll be replaced by another volunteer this weekend.

If you want to support Becky's trek, you can donate to her GoFundMePage . You can follow her on her Facebook page , and we promise we'll keep an eye on how she's doing and update you as she gets closer to her goal!
