Traveling on a Plane with Young Kids? We Swear by These Tips!

Traveling. Great! Traveling with kids? Potentially crazy. How we (mostly) kept everyone calm on our annual trip back to Pittsburgh!

Have any travel plans for the rest of the summer? Do those plans involve young kids? Then buckle up, baby!

Traveling on an airplane with children can be more eventful than the vacation itself, but there are ways to make it a little easier. Here are five of my favorite tips, which worked on our flights to and from Pittsburgh when we recently flew back to visit the grandparents!

We just made our annual Pittsburgh Pilgrimage with all the kids in tow--who are now 6, 4 and 2.

We absolutely loved every minute of our trip, from our regular visit to Pamela's in the Strip, our trip to Kennywood and more, but the kids' favorite thing to do when we are "up North" is always, always their time outside in their Mimi and Papa's backyard.

A full-on mud fight. Told you they like their backyard time!

Gotta get our Cowboy Joe picture every time we're at Kennywood!

We stopped by an old favorite, Peace, Love and Little Donuts in the Strip District . Delicious yes, and a whole lotta sugar!

It was like riding a bike when I stopped by my old stomping grounds to make an appearance on KDKA-TV in Gateway Center Downtown.

It was so much fun hosting Pittsburgh Today Live with my bud David Highfield!
