Kind Caretakers Give This Guy A New Set Of Wheels

When he lost the ability to get around on his own, folks at an animal rescue came up with a solution that you've gotta see!

We know there's been a lot of heavy news circulating in the media lately, and for most folks, the past few weeks and months have been anything but easy.

That's why we're interrupting your feeds to bring you some news that's a different kind of 'heavy.'

An overweight turkey named Bill with a "bum foot" is getting a second chance at a normal life, thanks to a one-of-a-kind wheelchair his caretakers made for him.

"He doesn't hate it" caretakers wrote on the Odd Man INN Animal Refuge Instagram.Odd Man INN/Instagram

Bill is currently a resident of the Odd Man INN, an animal refuge in Washougal, WA. In addition to arriving with an injured foot, Bill was under strict instructions to lose some weight to help with his overall health and mobility issues.

Once his caretakers wrapped their brains around Bill's condition, they came up with a solution that would let the turkey stay active while protecting his infected foot. Using some serious MacGyver-ing skills, his caretakers converted a dog wheelchair using a makeshift sling made out of a maternity girdle to keep him stable while using it.

"To make this work, I designed some signature man-turkey stretchy panties," one of the inn's workers said in an Instagram video. "I help Bill get his panties on, then secure his panties to the chair. They're like super Spanx."

Despite the fact that he is strapped into a wheelchair for most of the day, his caretakers say that the 50-pound bronze turkey is relaxed and seems to be adjusting just fine to his "man panties." They also say the chair makes it easier to flip Bill over and change his bandages, a problem they were having before introducing the mobile device.

After a few weeks of using the chair for his daily therapy sessions, the farm says that Bill is making excellent progress with his recovery and has even started walking on his own.

"Three wheelchair assisted therapy sessions today and one on his own power," the caretakers wrote, alongside another video posted to the inn's Facebook page. "Bill is the perfect patient."

While there's certainly more important things in the world happening right now than a farm animal getting some relief for an injured foot, we're hoping a little distraction will help take peoples' minds off of the more serious stuff – even if it's just for a few minutes.

Besides, have you ever seen a more handsome fella than Bill? I think not.

We dare you to look at this face without smiling. Odd Man INN/Facebook
