Super Bowl Champ Helps Shelter Animals Find a Home
Kansas City Chiefs' star Derrick Nnadi is celebrating by paying for the adoptions of all the adoptable dogs at one local shelter.
If you're a Kansas City Chiefs fan, you're having a pretty good year.
If you're a Chiefs fan and a dog lover - well, you're probably on cloud nine.
After the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, a Kansas City animal shelter, KC Pet Project shared some exciting news. "All Adoptable Dogs Have Been Sponsored by Derrick Nnadi," read a post on their Facebook page.
An exciting announcement for dog lovers in KC
"We have had an amazing, season-long, partnership with Derrick and he couldn't have thought of a better ending," said the Facebook post. The KC Pet Project is a nonprofit animal shelter that cares for over 10,000 animals a year. Their mission is to facilitate the placement of homeless pets into suitable homes. Thanks to Nnadi, the placement will be much easier for many dogs, since the adoption fees will be waived.
"Thanks to his incredible support, more than 100 available dogs in our care will have their adoption fees sponsored starting today," Tori Fugate, the chief communications officer at Kansas City Campus for Animal Care, told ABC News. This is the culmination of a year's worth of pet adoptions for Nnadi - he had sponsored the adoption fee of a dog after each Kansas City win this season.
So, KC fans, you might want to consider investing in a dog bowl to complement your recent Super Bowl!
