Sparkt's Tech Guru Named a Top 50 Tech Visionary

Award honors the best technology minds in the country.

At Sparkt we're proud to announce that our colleague, Sparkt Chief Technology Officer Nigel Brown, has been selected as a Top 50 Tech Visionary at the Intercon Conference currently underway in Las Vegas. The award recognizes Nigel and the other honorees as the best technology minds in the country. In his acceptance speech Nigel said he feels a great responsibility to the communities he serves, including the Sparkt community:

Nigel and his team are the brains behind what you see on Sparkt every day. They're in charge of everything from designing and re-designing the site to make it a better experience, to dealing with those middle-of-the-night crises that might threaten your ability to see wonderful stories about our communities 24/7.

"To be recognized is a feeling I could have never imagined would be my destiny," Nigel wrote on his Facebook page about his climb from a childhood of homelessness, foster care and physical and sexual abuse, to business success that has allowed him to give back to the community. "Using tech to create opportunities for kids like me who had no one to give them a helping hand is what I always wanted. Because I had no one, it's my mission to be someone for everyone else."

"Never become a product and never let those around you become products of their environments." Nigel Brown

Congratulations to Nigel on this well-earned award. He's truly living out the Sparkt mission to #StartSomethingGood!
