Six-Year-Old Who Saved His Little Sister From Dog Attack Gets Best Surprise Ever

He's being called a hero for what he did - even Captain America reached out to pay his respects!

The definition of the word hero is "a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his or her brave deeds and noble qualities."

The description is more than fitting for six-year-old Bridger Walker, who recently saved his sister from a vicious dog attack and ended up needing 90 stitches to his face.

When the dog lunged toward his younger sister, Bridger didn't hesitate to put himself in between her and the animal. After the dog bit him several times on the head and face, he grabbed his sister's hand and made sure she got to safety. His family members said that after the attack, the boy said that "if someone had to die, I thought it should be me."

Nikki Walker, Bridger's aunt, later shared the story on her Instagram page, along with photos of Bridger and his sister after he got stitches from a plastic surgeon.

"My nephew is a hero who saved his little sister from an attacking dog. He, himself, took on the attack so that the dog wouldn't get his sister," the Instagram caption read.

Despite the attack, Nikki said that the family has no bad feelings toward the dog's owners and that they've been nothing but supportive.

"The dog's owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family," she wrote. "We feel no resentment toward them at all, and -- if anything -- there's only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident."

Nikki tagged some of the actors who have brought her nephew's favorite superheroes to life in the post, including Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.

Within a few days the post went viral and has received over a million likes. People from all over the world reached out to call Bridger a hero and thank him for saving his sister.

Celebrities like Anne Hathaway and "Hulk" actor Mark Ruffalo have reached out to show their support for Bridger, with Ruffalo commenting: "People who put the well beings of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know. I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart."

Perhaps the best superhero salute came from actor Chris Evans, Captain America himself. Evans shared a video to Nikki's Instagram page where he tells Bridger: "I'm sure you've heard a lot of this over the last couple days, but let me be the next to tell you—pal, you're a hero. What you did was so brave, so selfless, your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother."

Bridger's parents shared a video of Bridger's reaction to the heartfelt gesture from his favorite superhero. Bridger, who was wearing a Captain America costume when he got the message, watched intently as Evans shared that he would be sending him an authentic Captain America shield, "because pal, you deserve it."

"Keep being the man you are, we need people like you," Evans continued. "Hang in there. I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I've seen, I don't think there's much that can slow you down."

Bridger was thrilled after hearing the message from Captain America. His sister even added to the enthusiasm by shouting, "That was awesome!"

What an inspiring gesture from one of Bridger's personal heroes - we're sure he'll use his new shield to protect those around him for years to come!
