Recycle Used Mascara Wands, Help Save Animal Lives

North Carolina wildlife refuge collects wands to help care for baby animals.

If you're getting a head start on your spring cleaning, there's a common household you can recycle to help save baby animals!

Appalachian Wildlife Refuge in Western North Carolina is asking for your used mascara wands, which can be used to help clean and care for baby animals.

The refuge says the wands are perfect, because the gentle bristles are close together, and they can be used to clean fly eggs, larvae, mites, infections, mud and other contaminants off animals' fur or feathers. Just make sure you clean the wands with soapy water first.
