Reaching Out For Help After 3 Years Without Electricity

There's no question it was a hard thing to do, but Sandy Geisler had been through enough. She reached out for help after more than three years with no electricity. I wasn't going to let this wait very long. Today I put the power of Sparkt to work and got our friends at the Dollar Energy Fund involved.
Here's how it all played out when Sandy showed me what she's dealing with and how it all started:
Sandy's biggest expense over the past three years has been batteries and kerosene. She's needed batteries for light at night and kerosene fuels her space heaters in the winter.
Sandy's predicament is not unique. Unfortunately this happens all the time across the country. People fall on hard times and get disconnected from their electric, gas, and water utilities. The good news is that these companies don't want to keep services off, they want people connected and have programs to assist.
Need help with your utility bill? Click here for a story we did in January that explains what to do if you're about to lose your service or have already been shut off, including who to contact.
Special thanks to Chad Quinn and our friends at the Dollar Energy Fund for their assistance helping Sandy get her electricity back on.
