Wrestlers Take To The Ring For Charity
Kickstart My Heart Wrestling is a professional wrestling production which benefits a variety of medical charities.
When you think of charity events, visions of spandex clad, high-energy, independent wrestlers are probably not what come to mind. But it's the image that James Young and Zach Zabadal have brought to life with their non-profit, Kickstart My Heart Wrestling.

Young and Zabadal work at the same hospital in the Minneapolis area and became friends over their love for wrestling. Last summer, they came up with the idea to start their own wrestling production with a focus on raising money for medical charities. In the words of their promotional material, "It sounds like a start of a bad joke but a doctor and a [physician's assistant] walk into a hospital… one bold idea and the rest is history."
Last October, their first event, "Body Slamming Breast Cancer," held in Apple Valley, MN, raised close to $3,000 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Program run by the American Cancer Society.
Fast forward to February and the two medical professionals have pushed their non-profit, and themselves, to new levels with their most recent event "Kickstart for Kids." Hosted in a local brewery, the goal of the event was to raise $3,000 for the Cancer Kids Fund through Children's Minnesota.
Thanks to local business partners as well as private benefactors, Young and Zabadal were able to bring in over 20 different independent wrestlers from all over the US.
Over the course of nearly four hours, these larger than life athletes put together eleven spectacular and jaw dropping matches. Young and Zabadal even got in on the action playing key roles in the storyline. Unique characters and captivating theatrics kept the crowd highly engaged and buzzing with so much energy they chanted "One more match!" at the end of the evening.
