Poll: Children Driving Eco-Friendly Measures in American Homes
More Americans are "going green"--and parents say it is because of their kids.
Results from a new poll show that as more American households "go green," it is often the younger members of the family who are pushing the changes.
The poll was conducted by One Poll on behalf of Avocado Mattress. It surveyed 2,000 Americans and found that 7 in 10 consider their home to be "eco-friendly." Additionally, 76 percent of parents say their child is the one who advocates for environmentally-friendly changes.
Some of the most common eco-friendly changes that Americans are implementing include (click for more information):
- Active recycling
- Avoiding food waste
- Reducing energy consumption and water usage
- Cutting down on single-use plastic (bringing reusable bags to the store, using a refillable water bottle, avoiding plastic straws, etc. )
Also, the survey found that most Americans wish they were doing more. The survey found 77 percent of respondents would like to be even greener, and 41 percent said just having children made them want to help protect the environment.
