Penguins Reach out to Injured Fan After Crash

The team is giving new gear to a hockey player who lost hers in a serious car accident.

This Penguins fan now has an even bigger reason to love her favorite team. Dwan Street, a hockey player herself, was in a serious accident last week on her way to a tournament in Newfoundland, Canada. A gesture from the Penguins turned her bad luck around.

The crash totaled her vehicle and left her with an injured hand and a collapsed lung. Her hockey equipment was also stuck in the car. And as evidence by this tweet, every attempt to retrieve the equipment failed.

Dwan detailed her entire experience on Twitter . While many of her followers sent well wishes , a call from the Penguins really picked up her spirits.

The Penguins not only reached out to Dwan, but offered to replace all of her lost equipment. "It's such a classy organization. I can't thank them enough. They turned a terrible week around," Dwan told WPXI-TV about the gesture.

"I don't think I could've been more of a fan, but this definitely did it." Dwan Street, to WPXI-TV

Dwan says she now has a new car complete with a big trunk to lug around all of her new gear.
