Move Over Wheaties, Make a Place for Pizza
In perhaps the greatest news imaginable, a new study reveals that pizza is actually healthier than cereal for breakfast.
In perhaps the greatest news imaginable, a new study reveals that pizza is actually healthier than cereal for breakfast. Now I realize you're probably rolling your eyes already, but hear me out.
By no means does this mean an entire pie is better for you than a small bowl of Captain Crunch, but nutritionist Chelsey Amer claims one slice of pizza is a better breakfast option. Amer says while a slice of pizza contains more fat, it also has less sugar than most cereals. Pizza also contains more protein, which means a slice will satisfy your appetite and you won't suffer the "sugar high" crash.
The argument in favor of pizza also mentions that a regular slice of pizza and a bowl of milk contain the same number of calories. Unfortunately, this study is focusing on an average slice of pizza. It doesn't apply to those giant slices loaded with a bunch of toppings. Sorry to ruin this fantastic news.
To clarify, Amer says she's not advocating that pizza become your breakfast meal every single day. She's just pointing out pizza as a better option.
