Motorcyclist Rushes to Battle Flames in Neighbor's Backyard

He beat the firefighters to the scene and sprang into action.

It's not every day that you see a superhero take action in real life. But that's just what happened when Alex Hillers was riding his motorcycle and noticed smoke pouring from his neighbor's backyard.

In a video captured by Hillers' helmet camera , you see him quickly pull over and jump off his bike when he sees the flames. He yells at neighbors to "Call the cops" and asks if anyone is in the house. When they tell him no, he runs to the front door anyway and knocks to warn the homeowners.

Hillers quickly rushes around the side of the house to the backyard where a wooden fence and patio structure are engulfed in flames. He calls out "Is anybody over there?" before using a garden hose to battle the flames.

You can hear him say, a bit shakily, "Oh my god, I'm a firefighter now. Forget about motorcycling."

After a while, a few neighbors jump in to help.

With the flames on the fence under control, Hillers swings open the gate to find a large, wooden patio structure on fire.

"Oh my god," Hillers exclaims. He yells for neighbors to bring over buckets of water and directs the homeowner to spray the perimeter of the house, so that it doesn't catch fire.

Still dressed in his full motorcycle gear, you can hear Hillers say "Oh my god, it's hot."

Later, he told InsideEdition that he almost passed out a few times from the excessive heat.

Still, he kept fighting the blaze until firefighters arrived.

"I happened to be at the wrong place at the right time." - Alex Hillers

People on YouTube commented on Hillers' bravery.

User Ika Bezhuashvili wrote, "Such a brave man! We need more people like him!"

Another user, Shelby Register RN, said, "Thank goodness keeping his wits about him! Not everyone responds to emergencies this well! Hero!!"

One thing's for sure, if Hillers decides to quit his day job, he has a promising career as a fire fighter. Who knows, maybe they'll even let him keep the cycle.
