Moe's Donates Special Caps For Children Who Need Special Tests

Two organizations are teaming up to help children who have to undergo special tests while they're in the hospital.

The Hannahtopia Foundation is getting a big boost to benefit children thanks to Moe's Southwest Grill in Pittsburgh, PA.

Hospital stays can be frightening enough on their own for a lot of people. It can be especially true for children who need ongoing testing, like epilepsy patients with EEG's. An electroencephalogram or EEG is a test used to find problems related to electrical activity of the brain, like seizures.

Having all of the wires and electrodes attached to their heads isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, not to mention the heavy gauze that is used to hold everything in place. Heather Shuker saw this with her own daughter Hannah and decided to do something about it. That led to the creation of "NillyNoggin EEG Cap."

Moe's Pittsburgh's Community Support Program picked up the tab for 80 of these special caps and delivered them with Heather to UPMC Children's Hospital on Tuesday, October 29th. I was with them for the big delivery and got to see how these cool caps work.

There was even a bonus for the Neurology staff and families at the hospital... Moe's provided lunch for everyone.
