Middle School Teacher to "Shear Da Beard" for Charity

North Hills Middle School students sell paper "beards" for the chance to help Brett Keisel shave Science Teacher Kris Proctor's beard to benefit Children's Hospital.

If you stop by Kris Proctor's science class at North Hills Middle School, you might think that's Steeler Brett Keisel at the blackboard.

Well, maybe not.

Mr. Proctor isn't quite as big a guy as Keisel, nor does he have the same skill on the football field. But his beard is coming close to rivaling "da beard" that Keisel notoriously shaves each year to raise money for Children's Hospital.

Now the North Hills Middle School Service Club is taking a page from that playbook with their own "Shear Da Beard" competition. Over the next few weeks, students will be selling paper "beards" with with all proceeds benefiting UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in partnership with former Pittsburgh Steelers player Brett Keisel's Shear Da Beard campaign. (That's Senior Sean Nolan with Mr. Proctor above, helping kick off the event)

There are all kinds of prizes for the "best-beard-sellers" but the grand prize is the most coveted: the students who sell the most beards will join Brett Keisel on stage on February 8 to help shave Mr. Proctor's magnificent beard!

Good luck students (and a soon-to-be-clean-shaven Mr. Proctor)!
