Ever need a tool for a task that you know you'll never need again? Who wants to spend money on that! You won't have to thanks to a unique resource that "lends" tools. The Maria Mongelluzzo Tool Library in Millvale has hand and power tools, ladders, and more. The Tool Library is located inside the Millvale Community Library (the one with books!).
To borrow tools, you first have to become a member of the Tool Library. But don't worry, it's easy -- and free. While the Tool Library was originally intended to serve the Millvale community, anyone is welcome. If you don't live in Millvale, they suggest you make a $30 annual donation that goes towards collecting and maintaining the tools. You must be 18 to be a member.
Members can search for available tools using the library's online catalog or look through the binder at the Millvale Community Library's front desk. You can check out up to 5 tools at a time, and must return them on time to the Library's circulation desk during normal hours. There's a late fee of $0.25 per day for less expensive tools and $1.00 per day for the more expensive ones for each day you're late with returns.
The library needs donations of tools, so if you're cleaning out your garage, or maybe have tools from a parent who has gone into a nursing home, they'd love to have them. They also need money donations to keep the library stocked with new tools, and pay for repairs.
