Kody's Homecoming Surprise
Kody Conley is a special young man who received a special surprise at a South Fayette football game. Guess who's going to homecoming?!
Even the smallest gesture can change a person's life. That's what happened to Kody Conley. He has Hemimegalencephaly, a very rare brain disorder. Seizures caused by the disorder have resulted in physical problems for Kody and he uses a wheelchair, but still attends South Fayette High School and has many friends there.
Kody's mother Kim reached out to Sparkt, asking us to celebrate what his classmates did to make him a star for the night at a recent South Fayette varsity football game. His friend Gillian asked him to accompany her to Homecoming -- on the field after game, while the people in the stands cheered.
You'll want to watch this magic moment:
"He is on cloud nine," said Kim about Kody's reaction when Gillian asked him to be her Homecoming date. While the football team often interacts with Kody -- he leads them onto the field each week -- even they weren't aware of what Gillian planned to do.
Kim says the surprise brought her son a moment of pure joy that he will never forget. Gillian's act allowed Kody to live in the moment and not dwell on a life of challenges that's included 40 surgeries. As Kim told Sparkt, "it takes one second to be kind to someone and they may remember that moment forever! Kindness is free."
