JuJu Smith-Schuster Named to NFL Academy Squad
The Steelers WR and his squad mates will help spread the game of football overseas.
After just two years in the NFL, Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has become a fan favorite and one of the biggest social media stars in the league. Now he's been tapped to help spread the game of football overseas.
Smith-Schuster was named to the NFL Academy Squad, alongside Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, and current stars Odell Beckham Jr. (Cleveland Browns), Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), Jay Ajayi (Philadelphia Eagles) and Efe Obada (Carolina Panthers).
JuJu Smith-Schuster will help coach and mentor young players in England.
As part of the squad, Smith-Schuster will travel to England, where the NFL Academy partners with local schools to teach and coach young players learning to play American football. The Academy also helps open up higher education opportunities for teens and focuses on character development. The program is open to athletes ages 16 to 18.
He will also help to promote the NFL Academy and NFL UK on social media, where he has more than 2.5 million Instagram followers.
Smith-Schuster made the Pro Bowl last season after catching 111 passes for 1426 yards and seven touchdowns.
