Join Hundreds of Neighbors in Giving Back to Your Community

United Way of SWPA has been doing this for 17 years. Make this the year you get involved!

Looking to truly make a difference in your community? If so, you're in luck: the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania"s annual Day of Caring is right around the corner, and there's still time to register to volunteer!

The organization is gearing up for its 17th annual Day of Caring , where teams of volunteers will take on a variety of community-oriented tasks. The event is scheduled for Sept. 13, 2019 and will pair volunteers with projects that benefit several communities and non-profit groups in Westmoreland, Fayette and southern Armstrong counties.

A wide array of projects will be available for participants, including setting up a picnic lunch for senior residents, spreading river rock at a local residential facility, and signing up to be a "Big" for a day by pairing up with an elementary student and participating in their class lessons and projects.

United Way's Day of Caring is a special day for the entire community," said LaDawn Yesho, who serves on the United Way's Women's Leadership Council.

"It mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact that lasts long after the day ends."

Any community group, organization or workplace can volunteer, and the teams can be as big or small as preferred. Just be sure to review the event's Volunteer's Team Lead Checklist online to make sure your team is eligible before applying. Volunteer registration is open from July 17, 2019 - August 28, 2019.

Pro tip: the sooner you register, the more projects will be available to your team!

To register your volunteer team, or to sign up to be a project host, shoot an email to or call the Westmoreland Region office at 724-834-7170.
