The organization is gearing up for its 17th annual Day of Caring , where teams of volunteers will take on a variety of community-oriented tasks. The event is scheduled for Sept. 13, 2019 and will pair volunteers with projects that benefit several communities and non-profit groups in Westmoreland, Fayette and southern Armstrong counties.

A wide array of projects will be available for participants, including setting up a picnic lunch for senior residents, spreading river rock at a local residential facility, and signing up to be a "Big" for a day by pairing up with an elementary student and participating in their class lessons and projects.
United Way's Day of Caring is a special day for the entire community," said LaDawn Yesho, who serves on the United Way's Women's Leadership Council.
"It mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact that lasts long after the day ends."
Any community group, organization or workplace can volunteer, and the teams can be as big or small as preferred. Just be sure to review the event's Volunteer's Team Lead Checklist online to make sure your team is eligible before applying. Volunteer registration is open from July 17, 2019 - August 28, 2019.
