We all love to be entertained and we all like something free. Here's the ticket: BNY Mellon presents Jazz Live, a completely FREE weekly jazz series. The concerts take place at the Backstage Bar from October to June and then move outside to the Katz Plaza in the heart of the city's Cultural District from June to September.
Jazz Live is the brainchild of Bob Studebaker, an award winning jazz musician and lifelong resident of Pittsburgh who has been part of the Jazz Live series since it began in 2004. Studebaker serves as the MC every Tuesday for the concert.
"Jazz has been central to the character of Pittsburgh for more than a century and it consistently draws people across economic and social barriers more effectively than anything else in the city (except the Steelers)." Bob Studebaker
While Jazz Live is obviously a treat for fans of jazz music, it's also a great chance for people to absorb a new culture and enjoy a free night out on the town.
