Gridiron Rivals Team Up to Feed the Hungry
Will Steelers fans or Browns fans donate the most to their city's food rescue organizations? Find out how to get in on the competition.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns are rivals, and not exactly the friendly kind. In fact the last time they met on the field in NFL Week 11, a fight broke out that resulted in Browns defensive end Myles Garrett tearing off Steelers Quarterback Mason Rudolph's helmet and hitting him in the head with it. Garrett and others face suspensions and fines.
But just because the teams and their fans don't like each other doesn't mean they can't come together to do something good . And that's exactly what will happen this Sunday, December 1, when the Steelers and Browns face each other again in a game in Pittsburgh.
412 Food Rescue in Pittsburgh is partnering with Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland Food Rescue for a one-day fundraising initiative they're calling Huddle for Hunger. The two organizations wil battle it out to see who can raise more funds in 24 hours to fuel the fight against holiday hunger. Whoever gets the most donations "wins," but hungry people in both cities are the real winners!
The donation blitz starts at 12:01am on Sunday December 1, and ends at 11:59pm.
Anyone who donates to 412 Food Rescue during the competition will be entered to win an original Steelers painting by Paints By Kait (below) valued at $1,500.
The winner of the fundraising challenge will be announced on social media.
