Good Deeds is the section where we feature the work of people who are doing good deeds to improve the lives of others. Read about amazing individuals doing good deeds in the communities where they live.

In our stories you'll meet a 92-year old retired steelworker and his wife who needed to move all the furniture out of their home, and the group of do-gooders who sacrificed their Saturday to make it happen. The plumber who fixed a water leak, for free, for an elderly woman, just as her water company was about to shut off her service. And the firefighters who made a boy's birthday the best ever by stopping by with their ladder truck when no one could come to his party.

Sometimes good deeds happen when someone recognizes a bigger problem, and figures out a way to address it. Like the drapery manufacturer who switched to making face masks when she heard that people were having trouble finding them during the coronavirus pandemic. Or the restaurant owner who discovered that people were struggling to put food on their tables in his town, and rallied others in the business to prepare meals for anyone who needed one.

We hope our Good Deeds stories inspire you to look for people around you who need help, and then be the one who does something. Each of our stories will have links to find out more about how to get involved, or provide inspiration to come up with your own ideas on how to #StartSomethingGood one Good Deed at a time.
