Get Your Green Thumb Ready
Even though parks may not be on your mind during the winter months, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy still needs your support in the new year.
We're starting to wrap up our "25 Days of Volunteering" series. Here's a recap of Week 1 and Week 2. If you haven't yet taken advantage of a volunteer opportunity and won't have time between now and Christmas, keep in mind, the holiday season isn't the only time you can give back.
Even though parks may not be on your mind during the winter months, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy still needs your support in the new year. Parks are an important part of any community, and someone needs to take care of them.
That's where Parks Conservancy volunteers come in. They do many different jobs, like clearing trash or debris from the parks, which is a real problem in the winter, preparing the ground and planting in the spring, and pulling weeds in the summer.
Those interested in volunteering can visit the conservancy online . In addition to volunteering opportunities, there are events offered all year long. A schedule of hikes and other types of events can also be found on the website .
