Get Rid of Your Unused Drugs This Saturday
National Take-Back Day is a chance to clear unused drugs from your medicine cabinet
6 million Americans misuse controlled prescription drugs and the majority came from from family and friends, often stolen from the home medicine cabinet.
That's why it's important to get rid of drugs you're no longer using, and the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a perfect opportunity. Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Click here and plug in your zip code to find the drop off location nearest you, usually your local police department, a pharmacy or a medical facility.
Most addicts get their drugs by stealing from family or friends.
In addition, in the Pittsburgh region, the Pennsylvania Resources Council and Pennsylvania American Water will host two sites to collect unwanted medication. The collection sites will be at the Green Tree Borough Building 10 West Manilla Ave and at the Mall at Robinson in the parking lot near Dick's Sporting Goods.
Last year the DEA collected 900,000+ pounds of unused, unwanted or expired prescription medication. Since the program started in 2010, they've taken in and destroyed 10.9 million pounds.
