Garth Brooks to Set Heinz Field Attendance Record
Previous record held by Pitt-Penn State football game.
Country superstar Garth Brooks will set a Heinz Field attendance record this spring.
Brooks will perform in Pittsburgh on May 18. The show has sold out 72,887 tickets, but tickets are available on the secondary market.
According to the Post-Gazette the previous record at Heinz Field was 69,983 tickets sold for the Pitt-Penn State game on Sept. 10, 2016. The previous record for a concert was Taylor Swift's sellout last year at 56,445.
"The in-the-round seating for Garth allows for every seat in the stadium to be open, whereas most of the other shows we have to close off any seats in the south end and south corners," says Nick Sero, communications manager at Heinz Field told the Post-Gazette. "This show also has a bit of a larger group of people on the floor."
Earlier this month, Brooks worked out with the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton, Fla. to raise money for his Teammates for Kids Foundation. Brooks said he is a lifelong Pirates fan.
