Fundraising for Sick Kids Pays Off for Rollercoaster Lovers
They raised a record amount of money for a non-profit that grants free "wish" vacations for ill children and their families.
When you're a kid, there's nothing like spending time at an amusement park to make for an unforgettable experience. That's the goal of a group called Give Kids the World, a non-profit that operates an 84-acre non-profit "storybook" resort in Central Florida. The group provides week-long, cost-free wish vacations to critically ill children and their families.
Unforgettable fun was also the goal of folks at Kennywood Park, the historic amusement park outside Pittsburgh. They rewarded fundraisers for Give Kids the World with a special hour of extra time at Kennywood before the park opened to the public during their Coasting for Kids event.
Pittsburgh-area kids and adults raised more than $43,000 for Give Kids the World , the most in the 10-year history of the Kennywood's Coasting for Kids reward event. They got bonus ride time as a thank you for their effort, including time on the park's brand new Steel Curtain roller coaster which has had long lines ever since it opened.
Since 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed more than 170,000 families from all 50 states and over 75 countries. For more information, visit .
Many thanks to all those who chipped in to support this great cause!
