Freebies for Federal Workers on Furlough

Losing a paycheck not only means struggling to pay bills, it can change your whole lifestyle. But there are still ways for federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown to have fun.

Losing a paycheck not only means struggling to pay bills, it can change your whole lifestyle. But there are still ways for federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown to relax and have fun. Here are some federal freebies we found:

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has maybe the best offer of all for furloughed federal workers. They are opening the doors to Heinz Hall until 30 days after the shutdown ends so federal employees and their families can enjoy two free concerts. You must show ID.

"We hope that this offer helps to bring some respite in a time of adversity." PSO president and CEO Melia Tourangeau

Duquesne Basketball

Sports fans are not left out either. The Duquesne Athletic Department is offering two complimentary tickets to federal government employees for this weekend's men's and women's basketball games. The men's team, who are coming off a big win against Saint Louis, will host VCU at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The women are hosting their annual National Girls and Women in Sports Game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m against George Washington.

Condado Tacos

When it comes to tacos and Mexican food in Pittsburgh, few can compete with Condado. They're making it very simple for federal workers. Stop by Liberty Avenue location and show your government ID to get a free taco.

"Because the world needs more tacos. And here's hoping this ends soon." Condado Tacos website

Sky Zone

Free yourself of any stress caused by the government shutdown with this special offer from Sky Zone. Furloughed employees and their families (up to 4 people) can enjoy one free hour of jumping! This offer is in effect every Tuesday through Thursday. Click here to find your nearest Sky Zone location.

Walnut Grill

Walnut Grill

Going out to eat is an added expense people without a paycheck can simply not afford. Walnut Grill is offering free select salads, sandwiches and flatbread pizzas for federal employees and their families. The free menu will be provided upon presenting identification as a government employee.
