Don't Forget To Give Back For Giving Tuesday
Join in on the biggest day of charitable giving of the year.
Your wallets have likely been getting a workout with Black Friday and Cyber Monday just 72 hours apart. But, another themed day of spending (one we here at Sparkt argue is the most important) is happening tomorrow: #GivingTuesday.
Every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people around the world reach deep into their pockets to give back. According to Wikipedia , Giving Tuesday is a movement to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season.

The donation-based "holiday" is meant to balance the extreme commercialism that follows Thanksgiving and provide much-needed resources to local and national non-profits.
Some larger companies like Facebook and PayPal offer to match donations made by their users on #GivingTuesday, which makes individual donations that much more impactful. Last year, the two organizations teamed up and matched $7 million of donations made to U.S. non-profits on Facebook.

If you don't have the funds to give away you can still take part in the campaign by donating your time (or goods) to organizations in your community. If you have the cash, you can start your own #GivingTuesday fundraiser on Facebook to support a cause or a non-profit that matters to you, or you can donate to an organization directly by visiting their website and finding the Donate link.
While you may already have one (or several) organizations in mind that you plan on giving to tomorrow, we wanted to share a few of our favorite causes that are more than worthy of your generous contribution.
#1. World Central Kitchen
WCK has been on the frontlines of the year's most devastating natural disasters, with a global network of chefs preparing food for displaced residents and making sure people who have been affected by storms, fires and other disasters are taken care of. You can read more about WCK in a previous Sparkt story by clicking here .

#2. Donors Choose
DonorsChoose.org is a non-profit website that lets individual contributors pay for items that teachers have a need for, like classroom supplies or projects. You can help purchase anything from musical instruments to virtual reality headsets for classrooms across the U.S. Check out a previous Sparkt story about a group of teachers who recently had all of their projects funded on Donors Choose by clicking here .

#3. The DeAngelo Williams Foundation
When breast cancer took the lives of multiple women in his family (including his mother) former Pittsburgh Steelers player DeAngelo Williams started a charity to fight the disease. The funding mainly supports the eradication of breast cancer through preventive care and research. Since the foundation started in 2015, the foundation has funded well over 500 mammograms for uninsured and under-insured women across the U.S. Click here to read our previous Sparkt story on the DWF.

These are just a few organizations that you can consider donating to on Tuesday. There are many, many others out there to choose from, depending on the cause you're into.
Or, if you're strapped for cash, consider donating your time to a nearby charity: feed the hungry, make care packages for the homeless, or collect supplies for your local animal shelter. You still have plenty of time to plan for the biggest day of giving of the year!
Lastly, be sure to use the hashtag #GivingTuesday when posting about your contributions. Let's #StartSomethingGood together!
