Dashcam Video Shows Trooper Saving Driver's Life
Pulls driver from the path of an oncoming train with just seconds to spare.
It's not every day you get a chance to save someone's life. In fact, most people won't ever get that chance. A state trooper in Utah showed that when that opportunity came his way, he was willing to risk his own life to save another person.
Trooper Ruben Correa was on a traffic stop Wednesday morning in the town of Centerville, north of Salt Lake City when he got a call about a car on some nearby railroad tracks. He stopped what he was doing and quickly headed over. You've gotta watch what happened next, as recorded on Correa's dash cam and posted to the Utah Highway Patrol Facebook page :
The driver of the SUV was unconcious behind the wheel. Correa pulls him out just seconds before the train smashes into the car. In the background you can hear the trooper shouting: "Let's go, get outta here. We got a train coming! We got a train coming!" as the train barreled toward them, whistle blaring.
The train, coming at full speed, slammed the SUV off the tracks.
Talking to reporters afterward, Trooper Correa said, "At that point, I actually wasn-t really thinking, I was just doing my job." His boss, Colonel Rapich said, "An incredible and heroic action by Trooper Ruben Correa."
"We are so grateful that the driver and Trooper are safe after this extremely close call. Well done Trooper Correa!!!"
From the looks of the car, the driver would probably have been killed
You probably won't save someone's life today, but you can do something to make their day a little better. Be on the lookout for your opportunity and #StartSomethingGood!
