Bike Shop Hosting Open Mic Benefit for BikePGH

Saturday you can "Hear music, play music, support BikePGH."

A local bike shop is raising money for BikePGH while giving local bands a chance to showcase their talents.

SweetWater Bikes in Ambridge, Pa. is hosting an Open Mic Night on Saturday. Event tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 day-of. All proceeds benefit BikePGH, with the goal of making Pittsburgh a more bikeable and walkable city.

"We just wanted to showcase local music and give local artists a chance to get onstage and perform," said Laura McKee, General Manager of SweetWater Bikes.

Participants can also show off their comedy, poetry readings or other talents. If you or your group want to perform, you can sign up here. James Dewey & the Dewey Decimators will feature as the house band, and sound equipment is available.

And while you're enjoying the tunes, you can also enjoy food from ODBQ and Little Athens Catering, as well as local brews from Bridgetown Taphouse. The event lasts from 7:30-10:30, and admission is limited to age 14 and older.
