Allegheny Health Network Opens Cancer & Imaging Center at Forbes Hospital
Cancer patients will have treatment options closer to home after the opening of a new, state of the art outpatient center on the Forbes Hospital campus in Monroeville.
Cancer patients will have the option to get treatment closer to home, thanks to the a new 63,000 square foot cancer and imaging center at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network cut the ribbon on the new $35 million AHN Forbes Outpatient Center today, the first of its kind in Pittsburgh's eastern suburbs according to AHN.
Patients will have access to advanced medical and radiation oncology care, cancer clinical trials, diagnostic imaging care and support services at the new facility on the Forbes campus on Haymaker Road, off Route 48. Forbes Hospital president, Dr. Mark Rubino says the center grew out of demand "for more specialized, close to home health services in our community.

And in addition to state-of-the art, high-tech services, the facility has something low tech that has a lot of meaning: a celebration bell. Donna Snyder and Clare Perteete, both of Murrysville did the ceremonial bell-ringing, symbolizing hope for the patients at the new center.
