Kimberly Turowksi has always wanted to do everything other kids do. She's especially dreamed of riding bikes with her siblings. Her parents Casaundra and Clinton Spadaro felt hopeless. They didn't know how to keep Kimberly, who has muscular dystrophy, from feeling left out.
Variety Pittsburg came through for Kimberly and children like her who are unable to ride a traditional bicycle. They've created special bikes, adapted for the needs of each individual child. For example, Kimberly's bike includes a bar for an adult to help her steer.
Kimberly wasn't the only kid to receive a special bike at Variety's annual bike giveaway event. They presented eight children with bikes made just for them. After Kimberly and the other kids were properly fitted on their bikes, they took a spin around the hallways. Parents and the Variety staff lined up to cheer the kids on.
In addition to bikes, Variety offers other devices that are intended to improve the life of children with disabilities. To learn more about all the wonderful things Variety does, visit their website.
