About Sparkt Bridges
Produced in partnership with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Sparkt Bridges celebrates people "building bridges" in their communities by reaching out to people different from themselves, sometimes people they'll never meet.
In our complex and often divisive world, we too often we don't get along because of the things that make us different: race, gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, education, social status. The list goes on. The Sparkt Bridges series profiles people who look at others as human beings who are united by the things that make us the same: urgent needs, a willingness to help, respect for fellow man, and a deep-seated feeling of responsibility to serve others. From the little girl who started a nationwide movement to make life better for residents in nursing homes to a couple who turned a nuisance bar into a neighborhood community center, you'll meet people who are truly building bridges and learn how you can join them in making a difference, one need, one person, one community, one point of similarity at a time!
In each Sparkt Bridges story, we'll have links to more information and ways to get involved to help these folks continue to build bridges -- or start building some of your own!
