About Community Issues
Sparkt's Community Issues stories highlight current events and matters where people are taking a stand to make a difference in their communities. Read more, educate yourself, and find out how you can get involved in making a change or meeting a need.
In our Community Issues section, you'll meet people who are making a difference by making waves. Like the governor who is on a mission to reform the criminal justice system in his state and the lawmaker who has vowed to ban environmentally-unfriendly styrofoam containers in hers. You'll learn how people have recognized a need in their community and then done something to meet it. Like the people who are making sure their neighbors are warm in the winter by hanging coats and scarves for-the-taking outside of their businesses and around their town. The little girl who collected barrels of warm outerwear for the homeless where she lives. And the networks of volunteers who've set up Blessing Boxes of free food for hungry neighbors outside schools, churches, even their own homes.
We've got links if you're inspired to learn more, sign a petition, write to your lawmaker, or find out how to do similar acts of kindness in your town.
