9-Year-Old Inspires "Love Like Louie Day"

This young boy's medical battle is touching people across the country. He has just one request.

If you haven't heard about Louie Schneider that's about to change. He is a 9-year-old boy who is inspiring people across America. From his home in Alexander, Arkansas, this young man's battle against a chromosomal disorder has brought him close to many of the men and women in law-enforcement who share their prayers and support.

(From Video posted by George Morehead, an officer in Bryant, Arkansas.)

One of those officers reached out to Diane Huggins and her organization, Covering The Blue which is based in Eldersville, PA. Diane and her army of volunteers normally make quilts and blankets for wounded officers, then came this special request. She told me all about it from her home.

For more on Love Like Louie Day, check out the Facebook page his mother, Kristy Schneider, maintains: Love Like Louie. Louie is asking everyone to do a random act of kindness on his 10th birthday which is also Memorial Day.

She has been keeping an active blog chronicling their journey, their struggles, and their tiny victories along the way. In her latest post she talks about their late-minute appointment scheduled for the day after Louie's birthday.

There are a number of stories I wish I had time to tell but let me suffice it to say, because of great people God is using, Louie and I have received the gift of an air ambulance ride to Mayo. Because of great people God is using, my daughter will have a gluten free cake for her 3rd birthday even though I will not be here to celebrate with her. Because of great people God is using we don't feel alone, we feel surrounded and held on this hard road. - Kristy Schneider, Louie's mother via CaringBridge
