16-Year-Old Swims 29 Miles Around Manhattan to Raise Money for Charity
She's already broken 2 world records and has no intention of stopping there.
Angel More is no stranger to challenges. Just this Saturday the 16-year-old completed a 28.5-mile swim around Manhattan to raise money for charity. It wasn't just any swim, though. It was the 20 Bridges race and More had to swim under all 20 bridges in the New York City area. She finished the swim in 9 hours and has earned the title of the youngest woman in history to complete it.

For Angel, the real reward is the $58,000 she was able to raise for Children International, a charity that helps lift children out of poverty around the world.
"They help nine countries around the world and they also help kids in the United States," she explained to Fox News . "They first focus on the child's health, then their education, their empowerment - and then, lastly, their employment."

Angel's next goal is to swim the English Channel next year in order to complete the last leg of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. The other legs are the 20 Bridges swim and the Catalina Channel, which she took on in 2018. Oh, and did we mention that she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, at the age of 10?
Angel has been swimming all of her life, and after training in the choppy waters of the San Francisco Bay, she wasn't nervous about taking the plunge in NYC.
"I swim a lot in the San Francisco Bay," she told CBS2 . "The water is warmer here than it is in California so that's really nice."
Along with her swimming goals, Angel has challenged herself to raise $1 million over the next two years in order to help 5,000 teens in poverty further their educations.
