Neighbors Grateful For A Great Meal, Great Fellowship -- And Free Masks!
For Sparkt's first mask giveaway of our "Mission: 10K Masks" campaign we partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwestern PA in a really unique event.
It doesn't take long to get the sense that the neighborhood around Auburn Street in Pittsburgh's Larimer section is close knit and friendly. I felt welcome as soon as we arrived to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Western PA for a food truck meal giveaway Thursday afternoon.
People standing in line broke away from their conversations to say hello. One gentleman asked about my health, remembering that I battled cancer a couple of years ago.
Boys & Girls Club's Demario Andrews and Juan Perez are ready to help Chef Pat Joyce serve the free meals.
What a cool community, and what a cool idea to bring a food truck here, with 250 pulled pork and chicken sandwiches and a side of macaroni and cheese for everyone who wanted it -- all cooked up by Southside BBQ Company.
Boys & Girls Club;s Missy Fuller chats with a neighbor while giving her free face masks from Sparkt.
Sparkt brought an extra surprise: enough face masks for everyone who got a meal.
The Boys & Girls Clubs are doing six food truck events around the area this week and next. We're on a mission to give away more than ten thousand face masks in a week. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to get together to make sure people have what they need to stay fed, and stay safe while we all work to get back to a new normal from the coronavirus pandemic.
Patrick and me interviewing B&GC Executive Director Dr. Lisa Abel-Palmieri.
We wouldn't be able to give away ten thousand face masks without the support of our partners, Eric Chaffin from Chaffin Luhana, and Julian Gray from Julian Gray Associates. We should also mention that Med Express is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs to pay for the 1,500 free food truck meals.
Just goes to show there are good companies out there that want to give back and make a difference in their communities, just like we do at Sparkt!
Stay tuned as we continue to give away masks, and meet the people who need them.
